Advice on how to tackle child obesity.?

Question: Advice on how to tackle child obesity.?

My 7 yr old niece has a weight issue. It has really started bothering her because of kids teasing her at school so I would really like to help her out. I have been trying to teach her about healthy eating choices and the importance of exercise but she seems to be having a hard time actually getting motivated enough to practice them. Does anyone have any kid friendly exercises or diet suggestions that would have an impact? I want her to be happy and healthy but DO NOT want her to become obsessed with calorie counting or get stuck on body image issues.

If you can, make sure that there are only healthy snacks in her house. Carrots and hummus, apples and peanut butter, etc. If there are chips, she will eat them, she's 7! Maybe try to get her involved in a sports team too, like soccer, where there is lots of cardio, and she should make some friends that will help her self confidence. Play with her, and make sure she knows that you love her no matter what she looks like!

Show her healthy living actions, eating healthy and making exercise part of her life. Play sports, go outside and have fun! eat healthy snacks, make a good role model for her (because she will follow when you do it)

Jump roping with the family is good and a great bonding activity too. you could sign her up on a school sports team. i heard swimming makes you lose wight easily as well (like actually swimming laps)
